The Department of Computer Sciences was founded in 1966. Today it consists
of 12 professorships.
Due to the close cooperation with the institutes for chemical and bio
engineering, electro-technics, engine building and materials science the
university is strongly focussed on science and practical orientation.
In the course of a subprocess COMQUAD-DB of the DFG-project COMQUAD (COMponents with QUantitative properties and Adaptivity www.comquad.org) a database for the administration of software components is being developed and implemented. Caché will be deployed to enable the scaling of very large amounts of measuring data.
