Two broad areas of teaching and research that will use Caché are planned. First, Caché will be introduced into the database coursework of the Science and Computer Information Systems programs. Also, this will include students and faculty using Caché in research projects. The most immediate application of Caché to research will be in the Information Security efforts at James Madison.
Second, the university will continue to work with InterSystems in identifying a health care database using the Caché dbms that would become a central element in health informatics instruction. All uses of Caché will be limited to enrolled students and current faculty in support of instruction, research and development.
