The Technical University of Košice
The Technical University of Košice, located in the eastern region of the Slovak Republic, was founded in 1952, with historical roots dating back to the Universitas Cassoviensis in 1657.
Today the TU of Košice has eight departments, with nearly 1800 teachers, research and administrative personnel, and approximately 12,700 undergraduate and graduate students.
The TU of Košice serves a wide range of educational needs not only in the East-Slovakian region, but throughout Slovakia and Central Europe, as it is the only regional education and research center in many specializations. The TU of Košice works in close co-operation with other national and regional universities and industrial organizations.
The Department of Manufacturing Technologies
Based in Preaov, The Department of Manufacturing Technologies is one of the key departments of the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies of the Technical University of Košice. The Department prepares students in Manufacturing Technologies and Computer Aided Manufacturing Technologies, with the first graduating class achieving their degrees in 1997.
Teaching Activities
The staff of the Department provides courses for full-time students, part-time students as well as for foreign students. Courses for foreign students are provided in the English language.
Within the specialization Manufacturing Technologies, engineers are trained to solve technological problems in engineering, design of manufacturing machinery, appliances and tools, as well as manufacture control, new materials treatment, new engineering and other advanced technologies and their applications.
Within the specialization Computer Aided Manufacturing Technologies, engineers are trained to solve problems in the field of computer technology applications as a supporting means in the process of manufacture improvement in team work conditions.
Graduates create technical documentation, design products using personal computers, perform computer analysis and simulations of manufacturing processes, and generate programs for CNC manufacturing machines. At the same time students gain knowledge in the field of information systems, hardware and computer networks.
