Founded in 1995, the Faculty of Mechatronics is the youngest institute of the Technical University of Liberec. Its full name, Faculty of Mechatronics and Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies, reflects the fact that its students are educated in a multi-science environment. The major scientific and engineering branches are Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Physics.

The faculty includes six departments, each of them focusing on specific education and research fields.

Courses: Automatic Control and Engineering Informatics, Mechatronics, Science Engineering and Information Technology

This study program awards bachelor's degrees in engineering, natural sciences and related fields. Students obtain deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to cope successfully with complex tasks that often require unconventional and highly sophisticated approaches and methods.

Automatic Control and Engineering Informatics prepares students to be highly qualified experts in the fields of process and machines control, engineering informatics, artificial intelligence, processing and transmission of information.

Mechatronics prepares students to be experts with sound knowledge in the fields of informatics, automation, diagnostics, design of control systems of machines with optimal combination of mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic components. Particular emphasis is put on a student’s ability to propose design concepts.

Science Engineering prepares experts in the fields of mathematical modelling methods, numerical mathematics and informatics. It covers both analytical and numerical approaches and their applications in a variety of areas of modelling of natural and technical processes. This curriculum also includes subjects on transmission and processing of information, control of modern physical experiments, statistical processing of measurement results and implementation of mathematical models in the form of software packages, including their calibration and verification.

Information Technology prepares students to be experts in the fields of computer science and communication technology. Particular emphasis is put on modern programming methods, databases, digital signal processing, networking and computer hardware.
