Participating Organizations

University of Pittsburgh
Department of Medicine
The Renal-Electrolyte Division

The University of Pittsburgh is one of the earliest members of the Caché Campus program.

The Department of Medicine's Renal-Electrolyte division has been using InterSystems technology since 1982 to track data for their kidney disease research project, the Registry for Peritoneal Dialysis Patients.

The Renal-Electrolyte division's mission is to provide patient care, educate medical students and physicians, and perform laboratory research with regard to kidney disease.

The Registry for Peritoneal Dialysis has tracked some patients for as long as fifteen years, and has banked accumulated data on over 1000 patients. The faculty and staff at The Registry for Peritoneal Dialysis has conducted numerous clinical studies and has published extensively.

Fellows, medical students, interns and residents have research projects using the Registry database. One common aspect of the research is to export the data to a statistical spreadsheet for analysis with a statistical program.
