The Paraná Catholic University was accredited by the Federal Government in 1960. In 1985, it achieved the Pontific designation in recognition of its contributions to society and church.
Since 1973, the PUC has been run by Congregação dos Irmãos Maristas, whose philosophy promotes social change via religious and human values.
