The University of Tokyo's Intelligent Modeling Laboratory (IML) has been developing an intra-operative information acquisition/analysis system. Some surgical data measurement apparatuses are linked by using the surgical navigation system developed in their laboratory. The navigation system achieves high degree integration of intra-operative information.

To record surgical data, IML has proposed a XML format and a recording/analyzing system for quantitatively assessing surgery. IML has also researched a method of equivalent transformation of intra-operative data for effectively analyzing them.

Caché will be introduced as the database platform since an OODB is suitable for their proposed recording method. The equivalent transformation function is implemented on the Caché base, and developed an integrated management system for intra-operative data recording, management, and analysis.

This project will be a collaboration with Kinki University, the Technical College of Osaka Prefecture, and the Osaka Institute of Technology. IML will implement the data-base system in at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University, and the Osaka Minami Medical Center, National Hospital Organization.
